Program Title and Description
This presentation will provide an overview of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). A new term to include ST segment elevation MI (STEMI), Non ST segment elevation MI (NSTEMI), Q and non Q wave MI, and unstable angina. An emphasis will be placed on the gender bias as ACS is the leading cause of death in American females, claiming the lives of more females than males. Ironically, women are less likely to receive fast and effective treatment for ACS than men. As health care professionals, increasing our knowledge will allow us to rapidly identify and treat. This program will help identify risk factors, recognize signs/symptoms, differentiate types of chest pain, and discuss treatment options and management of ACS.
