AACN NEW YORK CITY CHAPTER PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome current and prospective members of the New York City Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for the year 2019 -2020.

The Chapters' Board of Directors and myself encourage all critical care and progressive care nurses to become a member of AACN - a leading international association for critical care & progressive care nurses. AACN is the largest specialty nursing organization and has been serving the needs of more than 500,000 nurses since 1969.

MISSION:
Patients and their families rely on nurses at the most vulnerable times of their lives. Acute and critical care nurses rely on AACN for expert knowledge and the influence to fulfill their promise to patients and their families. AACN drives excellence because nothing less is acceptable.

VISION:
AACN is dedicated to creating a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients and families where acute and critical care nurses make their optimal contribution. New York City Chapter is a local chapter within Region Two together with the other chapters that brings critical care nursing within the community. As president for the NYC chapter it is my goal to increase membership by actively recruiting members within the NYC area. We offer evening programs within the different NYC hospitals. In addition, we have an annual symposium held in the Spring every year as part of our commitment to educating critical care & progressive care nurses.

We stand tall in issues that matter most. We will continue to encourage nurses to certify in CCRN & PCCN. We believe in the delivery of excellent patient care with compassion. We speak up for rights of our patients that include palliative care and end of life care. We educate nurses on the importance of healthy work environment in relation to the culture of patient and staff safety. We understand the importance of partnering with other disciplines for the care of our acutely ill patients.

TOGETHER, care for our flame so we can focus on the flame to achieve our mission of driving excellence, because nothing less is acceptable.
