The Medical/Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed mixed medical and cardiac unit serving the needs of critically ill adult patients. The unit is operated on a twenty-four hour basis. The units maintain 80% occupancy and serve the adult population with respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, gastrointestinal, hematological and psychological disorders. The Intermediate Care Area (ICA) is a nine-bed intermediate care unit, which allows patients progressive care at a level between intensive and general care. Special trained critical care instructed nurses will provide care to stable general surgical, vascular, cardiovascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, trauma and medical adult patients.
