ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Understanding and Implementing the CMS Guidelines
for Healthcare Facilities
Tom Ahrens, DNS, RN, CCNS, FAAN
Research Scientist in Nursing
Barnes Jewish Hospital
St. Louis, MO
Sponsored by GE Healthcare
This program addresses eight areas that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) targeted for reducing reimbursement if complications occur in
the hospital. Clinicians are educated on how to identify, treat and avoid
these key areas. In each of the preventable complication topics you have three
opportunities for learning: a library of animated books, short, targeted videos
with illustrations and practice cases in the near virtual reality interactive
patient rooms. The content presented is based on the best available science
evidence based practice), using national or international standards when
possible. This web-based program allows for both education and testing of
clinicians skills in recognizing and avoiding these target areas. The
web-based format and the ease of use helps to facilitate education of all
hospital clinicians very quickly.

Do you want to know how to finally successfully address The "BMW" Club,
Negaholics and "Queens"? Most managers lack the specific skill to do
it (it seems like Mission Impossible), or lack the support from Human
Resources or even their own staff. Come learn how to turn all this
around and go home with the knowledge level and tools to "DIY". This
session is helpful for anyone "in charge" (manager, charge nurse,
educators, nurse clinician IV, etc.) or anyone who is tired of working
with "them" and would love some new insight.
