Pamela Bolton, Immediate Past Chair

Pamela Bolton, RN, MS, ACNPC, CCNS, CCRN, PCCN, serves a one-year term as chair on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013. She completed a one-year term as chair-elect on June 30, 2012, and served as a director on the board from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2011.

Bolton is a critical care nurse practitioner/clinical specialist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She was an acute care nurse practitioner with Comprehensive Cardiology Consultants, Inc., Cincinnati, from 2004 to 2006 and held clinical nurse specialist, staff nurse and faculty positions between 1986 and 2004 with numerous Ohio hospitals and universities as well as the University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore and Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.

Among her many affiliations, Bolton belongs to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, American Nurses Association, American College of Nurse Practitioners and Society of Critical Care Medicine.

She was a member of AACN’s Awards & Scholarships Review Panel in 2005-2006, the Board Advisory Team in 2003-2004, and the Advanced Practice Advisory Committee from 2002 to 2004. She is currently a member of AACN’s Greater Cincinnati Chapter, including a term as president, and the chapter advisor for Region 9 (Indiana/Ohio).

An editorial board member of AACN Advanced Critical Care and a prolific presenter, Bolton received 1997 and 1998 research awards from Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She also earned Ohio Nurse Executives’ education and The Ohio State University’s “Excellence in Patient Education” awards in 1997.

In 1985, Bolton earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati where she received Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification in 2004. In 1992, she earned a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, Baltimore.
