NTI Events Spotlight CCRNs; Regulatory Issues Focus of Special Session for Luncheon Attendees

A special session for CCRNs who attend the CCRN Luncheon at the 1999 National Teaching Institute™ and Critical Care Exposition will feature Barbara Safriet, associate dean and lecturer in law at Yale Law School, New Haven, Conn.

The 1999 NTI, which features the Advanced Practice Institute™ and five educational tracks—adult critical care, continuum of care, leadership, pediatric and neonatal care, and trauma care—is scheduled for May 16 through 20 in New Orleans, La.

Safriet’s topic is “Health Care Regulation and the Certified Critical Care Nurse.” In addition to discussing regulatory reforms that affect nursing, she will suggest strategies for maximizing the value of the certified critical care nurse in today’s healthcare system.

This special session, which is sponsored by Atrium Medical Corporation and GE Marquette Medical Systems, follows the annual CCRN Luncheon on May 17. Sponsored by the AACN Certification Corporation, the luncheon provides an opportunity for CCRNs to come together to celebrate their achievement.

Speaking at the luncheon will be Barbara Gill, RN, MN, chair of the AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors. “Certification: The Value of Your Identity” is the title of her presentation.
Only CCRN-certified nurses can attend the luncheon and special session with Safriet. Because seating is limited, early registration is suggested. To attend, check the CCRN Luncheon option on the NTI registration form.

For more information or to register for the NTI, call (800) 899-AACN (2226) or visit the NTI Web site. The early-bird deadline for discounted registration fees is April 7, 1999.
