Honors
Ellen Martin, RN, BSN, CCRN, was selected as one of North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses for 2000. She is a clinical improvement nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. She is also registry coordinator for the National Registry of Myocardial Infactions.

Stephanie Christian, RN, MSN, CCRN, CEN, CCNS, received the Nurse of the Year Practice Award for 2000 from the North Dakota Nurses Association. Christian is president of the North Valley Chapter of AACN, Grand Forks, N.D.

Professional
Paul J. Kapsar Jr., RN, MSN, CRNP, has been appointed as an instructor for clinical information at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Jennifer Heck, RN, MSN, CCRN, has accepted an outcome management position as continuum of care manager for the cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology population at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, S.C.

Beth B. Eagleton, RN, MN, PhD, has accepted the position of vice president of patient care services at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo. She previously was vice president and chief nursing officer at Baptist Health System, San Antonio, Tex.

Academic
Sonja D. Brune, RN, MSN, CCRN, CEN, CCNS, received her master of science degree in acute care of the adult from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Tex., and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International. Brune is currently an advanced practice nurse with a private practice cardiology group in San Antonio. She is also chairman of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Heart Association Cardiovascular Nursing Committee.
