Celebrate the Value of Certification at NTI 2001|
Certified critical care nurses attending AACN’s National Teaching Institute in May 2001 will be encouraged to reflect on and celebrate their achievements in a variety of ways.
In addition to the traditional Certification Luncheon, NTI 2001 will provide a special place for AACN Certification Corporation adult-, pediatric- and neonatal-certified critical care nurses (CCRNs), clinical nurse specialists (CCNSs) and acute care nurse practitioners (ACNPs) to gather, relax and share their experiences. At this Certification Oasis, they can also review certification resources and talk with representatives of the AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors and National Office staff about certification issues.
Included among the myriad concurrent sessions addressing knowledge and skills needed by certified nurses are CCRN and CCNS exam preparation courses being offered as part of NTI preconference sessions.
The Certification Luncheon will further showcase CCRNs, CCNSs and ACNPs in critical care. Planned to be an energizing and inspirational event, the luncheon will feature a brief presentation on the current climate of certification and how the trends can be used for the benefit of certified nurses. Participants will also learn more about AACN Certification Corporation’s initiative to promote the value of certification. On hand will be representatives of Burson-Marstellar, the international public relations consulting firm that is assisting in the effort.
Atrium Medical Corporation is cosponsoring with AACN Certification Corporation the Certification Luncheon program, as well as providing the special luncheon mugs.
The fee to attend the luncheon is $25. Because seating is limited at this ticketed event, nurses who plan to attend are encouraged to return their NTI registration forms as early as possible.
Another session of interest to certified nurses will focus on the Synergy Model, adopted in 1995 by AACN Certification Corporation as the framework of the certification program. “The Synergy Model: Clinical Inquiry and Research” is the title of a presentation by Ruth Mulnard, RN, DNSc, who is with the Institute for Brain Aging and Dementia at the University of California, Irvine. She will focus on ways to influence practice through research utilization and experiential learning.
NTI 2001 is scheduled for May 19 through 24 in Anaheim, Calif.
For more information about or to register for the NTI, call (800) 899-2226 or visit the NTI Web site.
CCRNs in Action
Nurses planning to attend the NTI are encouraged to submit individual and group photos in advance of CCRNs in their work environments. Photos that include patients must be accompanied
by signed release forms. Brief comments about why individual nurses became certified and continue to value certification are also requested.
Send photos and comments to AACN Certification Corporation, 101 Columbia, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. These will be used as part of the certification celebration.
