Nursing Students Receive AACN Scholarship Support

 Ten nursing students have been selected by the National Students Nurses Association to receive educational scholarships funded by AACN.

 These scholarships are available to nursing students who do not hold an RN license and who meet eligibility requirements. The recipients were announced at the annual NSNA conference in April 2001.

 The recipients of the AACN Scholarships and Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarships are:

 Honors
 Tahe University of Virginia School of Nursing has awarded the Distinguished Professor Award to Arlene Keeling, RN, PhD, and the Excellence in Teaching Award to Emily Drake, RN, MSN. Keeling is director of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program and associate director of the Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry. Drake has been a faculty member at the School of Nursing since 1994.

 Professional
 Delfin V. Crisostomo, RN, MSN, has accepted a clinical manager position at Detroit Receiving Hospital, where she has worked 11 years as an ICU nurse. She recently received her master of science in nursing degree from the University of Phoenix.

 Judy L. Bezanson, RN, DSN, has established Scientific Research Solutions, a consulting business to assist nurses in identifying funding sources, manage research projects, provide guidance in scientific writing and design professional presentations. Bezanson formerly was on the faculty in the Adult and Elder Health Nurse Practitioner Program, critical care subspecialty, at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Atlanta, Ga.

 JoAnn Green, RN, MSN, CCRN, has accepted a position as clinical nurse specialist for the medical and surgical ICUs at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, after receiving her master of science in nursing degree from the Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.

 Daleen Aragon, RN, PhD, CCRN, has accepted the role of clinical nurse research scientist at Orlando Regional Healthcare System, Orlando, Fla. In this role, she will focus on research utilization to develop best practice protocols and guidelines, clinical studies of key problem areas and evaluation of the effectiveness of best practice initiatives.

Academic
 Teresa P. Lienhop, RN, MSN, MBA, CCRN, CNA, has completed her master of business administration degree at the University of Phoenix, Tulsa, Okla.

Karen Hall, RN, MS-NP, CCRN, received her master of science in nursing degree from Daemen College, Amhurst, N.Y., after completing the adult health nurse practitioner program.

 Linda Searle Leach, RN, PhD, CNAA, has completed her dissertation and requirements for a doctorate in public administration from the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Her specialty area is healthcare administration. Leach has also done research on transformational leadership and the organizational commitment among nurses.

 Mary Walker, RN, MSN, CCRN, graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas, with a master’s degree, specializing in the acute care clinical nurse specialist role with a minor in teaching. She works in the progressive care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort San Houston, Texas.
