Honors
JoAnne
Youngblut, RN, PhD, FAAN, professor and
coordinator of research at the Florida
International University School of Nursing,
received the Distinguished Alumni Award from
her alma mater, Indiana University of
Pennsylvania. In addition, she was elected
to the Governing Board of the Southern
Nursing Research Society. The Distinguished
Alumni Award recognized Youngblut for her
outstanding accomplishments in nursing.
Professional
Donna
L. Luebke, RN, MSN, CNP, certified nurse
practitioner at the Heart and Vascular
Center at MetroHealth Medical Center,
Cleveland, Ohio, was elected to the United
Network for Organ Sharing Board of Directors
as a representative of the general public.
She has represented AACN on the critical
care advisory council of the Organ
Procurement and Transplantation
Network/United Network for Organ Sharing.
Luebke also currently serves as a certified
public educator for LifeBanc.
Cyndi
Johnson, RN, MA, was named chief nursing
officer at Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center,
Kansas City, Mo., where she previously was
director of nursing. With more than 25 years
of experience in nursing, she is involved in
nurse recruitment activities for the medical
center.
Dennis
J. Cheek, RN, PhD, FAHA, accepted a position
as professor at the Texas Christian
University Harris School of Nursing & School
of Nurse Anesthesia, Lubbock. He previously
was an assistant professor at the University
of North Carolina School of Nursing, Chapel
Hill. Cheek was a member of the 2003 NTI
Work Group.
Colleen
Lindell, RN, CNOR, CLNC, is the author of
the fifth edition of the Internet Medical &
Health, Searching & Sources Guidebook/CD.
Sandra
B. Hardy, RN, BSN, CCRN, of Macomb, Mich.,
was elected president of the Great Lakes
Chapter of the Infusion Nurses Society. She
is currently conducting research for a
pharmaceutical company and doing IV
infusions for a private physician.
Academic
Sherrill Shepler, RN, MSN, CCRN, ACNP,
received her master's in nursing degree in
the acute care nurse practitioner program at
the University of Pittsburgh. Her minor was
in nursing education. Shepler also achieved
certification as an acute care nurse
practitioner. She is the nurse practitioner
for the University of Pittsburgh Medical
Center heart and lung transplant program.
Suzanne
Marnocha, RN, PhD, CCRN, of Hortonville,
Wis., graduated from the University of
Wisconsin Milwaukee with a PhD in nursing.
Her dissertation was on "Stress, Cognitive
Appraisal, Resilience and Social Support of
Older Women Whose Spouses Have Undergone
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery."
Nate
Parker, RN, MSN, received his master's
degree in nursing from Widener University,
Chester, Pa. He is a clinical nurse
specialist for Cardiac Services at Temple
University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.
Patricia Bradshaw, RN, MS, CCRN, CEN,
graduated from the University of Maryland
with a master of science degree, completing
the blended CNS and NP program in critical
care and emergency-trauma nursing. Bradshaw,
who recently was selected for promotion to
major in the U.S. Air Force, has been
reassigned to Wilford Hall Medical Center,
San Antonio, Texas.
