Johanson
Wanda Johanson, RN, MN, AACN's CEO, was elected to serve a three-year term on the Nursing Organizations Alliance (NOA) Coordinating Team. She will help coordinate and guide NOA programs that focus on developing and strengthening nurses’ leadership skills, and provide a forum for NOA members to collaborate.
Campbell
Gladys Campbell, RN, MS, MSN, is the new executive director of the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives (NWONE). A former president of AACN, she also worked at the National Institutes of Health for 20 years.
Connie Barden, RN, MSN, CCRN, CCNS, former AACN board president, has been promoted to director, clinical safety and innovation at Mercy Hospital, Miami, Fla. Her primary responsibility will be to develop and launch Mercy’s clinical safety program. Jan Boller, RN, PhD, former AACN program development director, was appointed project director for the California Institute for Nursing & Health Care’s report on “Nursing Education Redesign in California.” Sherry Walter, RN, MSN, CCRN, has been named director of clinical education and nursing practices at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, N.C.

Kristine Anne Scordo, PhD, RN, CNP-ACNP, recently published the 3rd edition of her book, “Taking Control: Living with the Mitral Value Prolapse Syndrome,” which contains the latest data from her years of research on this subject.
Tietjen
Suzanne Davenport Tietjen, BA, BSN, RNC, NNP, CCRN, wrote a book of devotions titled “40 Days to Your Best Life for Nurses.”
Burns
Suzanne Burns, RN, RNP, RT, MS, MSN, CCRN, ACNP, FCCM, FAAN, edited “AACN Protocols for Practice: Care of Mechanically Ventilated Patients, 2nd ed.,” which was selected as an AJN Book of the Year for 2006 in the category of Critical Care - Emergency Nursing.
Shirey
Megan Caffrey, RN, MSN, CPNP, was honored for her contributions to nursing and working for Operation Smile, at the fourth annual New York Times Job Market Tribute to Nurses.
Maria Shirey, RN, MS, MBA, CNAA, BC, FACHE, AACN Certification Corporation board member, wrote an article titled “Building Authentic Leadership and Enhancing Entrepreneurial Performance” for the November/December 2006 issue of Clinical Nurse Specialist. She also wrote an article of book reviews titled “Knowledge Management: An Innovative Strategy for the Future,” which appeared in the January 2007 issue of Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA).
Tonya Parson, RN, BSN, MSN, ACNP, CCRN, received the “Nurse of Distinction – Clinical” award, one of the 2006 Service Awards presented by the Tennessee Hospital Association.
