Linda Harrington, PhD, RN-BC, CNS, CPHQ, CENP, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, serves a one-year term as chair-elect on the AACN Certification Corporation board from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.

Harrington — vice president/regional chief nursing informatics officer, Catholic Health Initiatives, Englewood, Colo. — was previously vice president for advancing nursing practice at Baylor Health Care System, Dallas, where she chaired or co-chaired several major committees including the Critical Care and Advanced Practice Nurse Councils.

Harrington, formerly vice-chair of the Texas Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Nurses Advisory Committee, has published more than 40 journal articles and book chapters. She speaks nationally about research, evidence-based practice and informatics related to nursing.

Harrington developed and launched the doctor of nursing practice program at Texas Christian University. A nurse researcher at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, who played a critical role in the hospital attaining Magnet designation, she served as chief nursing officer and consultant to hospital startup companies.

Harrington earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Texas, Arlington, and a doctoral degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University.

Harrington, who lives in Dallas, holds license as a clinical nurse specialist and certifications in healthcare quality management, executive nursing practice and informatics.
