Education–The Foundation of the National Teaching Institute™

Each year, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses offers the National Teaching Institute to nursing professionals. Our goal is to cultivate, gather and share timely and relevant information with participants. Through a rigorous review process, AACN produces a clinical education program that is second to none.
Our clinical content is adult focused unless otherwise noted. At the 2004 NTI, AACN is pleased to present the following pathways:
Leadership Development Pathway

This pathway will integrate leadership competencies and leadership development to strengthen a manager's influencing skills by focusing on self-awareness, dialogue, navigating change and conflict resolution. Leadership Pathway sessions are identified by the LDM symbol in the program listing.
Progressive Care Pathway

Progressive care is used to collectively describe areas that are also referred to as Intermediate Care Units, Direct Observation Units, Step-down Units, Telemetry Units, or Transitional Care Units as well as to define a specific level of patient care. The Progressive Care Pathway sessions are identified by the PRG symbol in the program listing.
Pediatric Pathway

Nurses who care for critically ill children have the special challenge of dealing with critical illness while meeting developmental needs of patients from tiny neonates to adult sized adolescents. The Pediatric Pathway sessions are identified by the PN symbol in the program listing.
Emergency Department Pathway

The Emergency Department Pathway offers sessions featuring speakers on topics such as blast injuries, burns, understanding forensics, trauma and a session about casualty care aboard the USNS Comfort hospital ship during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Emergency Department Pathway sessions are identified by the ED symbol in the program listing.
