Preventing Errors in ICU: Catch Me if You Can
Learning ObjectivesAt the completion of this program, you will be able to:
- Analyze the near miss to promote the identification of risk, to create a safer environment for the patient and family, and to build solutions to reduce the incidence of preventable errors.
- Develop strategies to create a transparent “culture of safety” environment in the ICU.
- Create a safer environment for patients by establishing activities that promote the identification of risks in the critical care environment.

We cannot deliver perfect care if we are not first safe. This session provides the tools to design and promote activities that establish a “culture of safety” through transparency and innovation. By creating a “catch of the day” program, ICUs and pediatric critical care units (PCCUs) can identify and build processes to reduce errors in the work environment.
