Membership Options

As a new member of AACN, you will belong to a group of committed professionals who elevate nursing practice in every way through a shared passion for and commitment to professional excellence. Through our community, we strengthen and support, learn and challenge one another to bring out our best. Welcome to our community of exceptional nurses.

Annual Membership dues includes a non-refundable payment for one year subscription to Critical Care Nurse ($12.00) & American Journal of Critical Care ($15.00).

Any registered nurse licensed in the United States who is interested in critical care nursing and is in good standing with the licensing agency of his/her state or territory is eligible for active membership. Nurses employed in research, administration, teaching, medical-surgical, telemetry or progressive care units, home health or any healthcare agency are also eligible.

Any LVN or LPN, non-nurse professional, or student in these areas is eligible. Also any healthcare consumer or member of the corporate or political community who is interested in working toward the advancement of a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients is eligible. Affiliate members may not vote, hold office or serve on committees.

Any U.S. citizen (or a non-citizen of the U.S. who resides within the boundaries of the U.S.) who is a student in an accredited, professional nursing program and is currently not licensed as a registered nurse is eligible. Your membership includes all AACN benefits. Student members may not vote, hold office or serve on committees.

Any active member who has maintained active AACN membership for a period of five years or more and is over the age of 55 is eligible.

Available to professional nurses who have RN licensure in a country other than the United States. Your membership includes all AACN benefits; however, all benefits will be delivered via email or through the AACN website including your member card. International members may not hold office or serve on committees.

Any member who has ceased his/her active practice in nursing by reason of permanent retirement or permanent disability.
