Kathleen K. Peavy, RN, MS, CCRN, CNS-BC, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board from July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2015.

A critical care clinical nurse specialist at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga., Peavy has been associated with the hospital since 1999, being selected as nurse of the year in 2001.

Before that, she was education specialist at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon, where she also worked as a critical care clinical nurse specialist. Her previous clinical experience includes positions as assistant clinical coordinator, senior nurse clinician, senior staff nurse and staff nurse in hospitals in New Jersey and New York.

Peavy’s association as a volunteer with AACN extends more than a decade. She has been an ambassador since 2001, taking an active role in the fall summit during 2010. Her expertise has enriched review panels for both awards and scholarships many times, and she participated on the AACN Nominating Committee in 2007-2008.

Peavy has been active with AACN chapters, both as past president of the Atlanta Area Chapter and on the Chapter Advisory Team in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005, leading the group in 2005-2007. She was also appointed chairperson for the CNS Scope and Standards Task Force in 2008-2009.

Peavy received her Master of Science in nursing from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Newark. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, N.J.
