In those capacities, she provides mentorship to chapter leaders in Michigan and Wisconsin and promotes the work and mission of AACN at her workplace and through social media. She also chaired the Milwaukee Healthy Work Environment Summit Planning Committee in 2009 and helped plan the AACN Region 8 and 10 Collaborative Meeting in October 2010.

A member of the Oncology Nurses Society in 2011, the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists from 2005 to the present and a member of the American Nurses Association, Bay received the Marquette Electronics Award for Excellence in Critical Care Education and the Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Nursing from the Veterans Administration Milwaukee, both in 2004. She also is an adjunct faculty member at Alverno College School of Nursing in Milwaukee.

Bay earned her master’s degree in nursing from Alverno College, where she also received her Bachelor of Science in nursing. Prior to that, she obtained an associate’s degree in nursing from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Her tutorial “Sepsis, What’s Bugging Your Patient?” has been used by a variety of hospital learning management systems across the country since 2008.
