Lisa A. Falcón, RN, MSN, TCRN, NE-BC, serves a three-year term as a director on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2017. She also serves a one-year term as secretary/treasurer from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016.
Falcón is nursing director of the adult and pediatric trauma center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a position she has held since 2011. She joined the staff in 1999 as a critical care nurse in surgical critical care and transitioned to a clinical nurse educator.
An AACN member since 1994, Falcón served on the AACN Nominating Committee in 2008-2009 and the Continuing Education Review Panel from 2003-2014. She also sits on the manuscript review panel for Critical Care Nurse. In addition, she served on the Research Work Group in 2006-2007 and the Research & Abstract Review Panel. In 2009, Falcón presented at the National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition. An active member of ACCN’s Jersey Shoreline Chapter, she is the current chapter president. She was also past president and a member of the Central New Jersey Chapter.
With a focus on improving processes and systems for patients, nurses and the healthcare team through communication, relationship building and education, Falcón has presented on a variety of topics, including process improvement lectures such as “Massive Transfusion Protocol: Improving the Process With LEAN Methodologies” and “Thoracic Trauma, Innovations in Treatment.” With a special interest in global healthcare, she and other members of the trauma team visited Cali, Colombia, to learn about trauma care and nursing practice in South America.
An adjunct faculty member at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey, Falcón is a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses and the Pan American Trauma Society.
Falcón has a Master of Science in nursing education from Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
