If your chapter poster was accepted for NTI, you will receive additional instructions from the Chapters department. Their contact phone number is 800-394-5995, ext. 365 or 313.
Poster presentations will be located at New Orleans' Ernest N. Morial Convention Center at the back of the NTI Resource Center. Please follow signs to the poster location. There will be a list of posters and poster board numbers should you need to verify the location of placement for your poster. This will eliminate the need to check at the information center.
The complete address for the convention center is:
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center - Hall B-2 900 Convention Center Boulevard New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
Each poster has been assigned a poster board number which was provided to you in a follow-up email. The number will be posted on the actual board on which you are to place your poster. The number will be preceded by the following designations: RES for Research, CS for Creative Solutions and CH for Chapters.
Poster presentations are graphically illustrated, self-explanatory presentations of the findings from a research study or creative solution intervention. Authors illustrate their findings by displaying graphs, photographs, diagrams, and text on 4 feet tall x 4 feet wide poster board with a 2 inch border. The bulletin board is covered with a light gray cloth that can accommodate Velcro attachments. Push pins may also be used. Mounting materials are not provided by AACN. You are responsible for bringing all materials necessary to mount your poster.
Projection equipment is not allowed in the poster session area, and electrical outlets are not provided.
No product promotion or materials may be on display at the poster. If your project has resulted in a marketable product or used to market a product, please be aware that the product brand cannot be marketed during your presentation. Presentations may not have product information or promotion.
All poster presentation titles with authors will be listed in the NTI Program Guide. Research and Creative Solutions abstracts will be published as follows:
Research Abstracts will be published in the May issue of the American Journal of Critical Care (AJCC).
Creative Solutions Abstracts will be published as an electronic (online) supplement in conjunction with the April issue of Critical Care Nurse (CCN). The creative solutions abstracts WILL NOT be published in the journal.
Copies of the abstracts will be available for attendees at NTI.
AACN provides ribbons for you to place on your name badge which identifies you as a "Poster Presenter." You can pick up your ribbon at the information booth in the NTI Resource Center.
As a NTI Research and/or Creative Solutions Poster Presenter, you will receive a $75.00 reduction in your NTI registration fee.
Reduced registration is meant to be used by the primary author of the abstract. However, if the primary author is unable to attend or has a discount as a result of another poster or concurrent presentation, the discount can be transferred to a co-author. This reduced registration fee applies to only one presenter per abstract. This discount cannot be combined with chapter discounts.
Presenters who have multiple abstracts accepted will be eligible for only one (1) reduction in NTI registration.
Do not register online as you will not be able to receive your discount.
You can register by doing one of the following:
Click here to download the Registration Form.
Expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of an abstract are the responsibility of the author/presenter. The author/presenter is required to pay all fees associated with the meeting including, but not limited to, travel, housing accommodations, meeting registration, etc.
Four research abstracts will be selected to receive the Research Abstract Award. This award recognizes individuals whose abstract reflects outstanding original research, replication research or research utilization. Each of the award recipients will present their findings at one of the research oral presentation sessions at NTI. Award recipients will receive a honorarium of $1,000 for NTI expenses (NTI Registration, Hotel and Travel).
Research poster award winners will be invited to present their presentation in an oral session as well as at poster location. The oral abstract sessions are 35-minute presentations which provide a brief overview of the project by using PowerPoint or other audio visual methods to visually enhance the presentation. There are five minutes for questions and answers from participants at the end of each presentation. Oral sessions are held in conference rooms with a capacity of up to 100 attendees.
Research Oral presentations will be held at the following location:
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center 900 Convention Center Boulevard New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
You will receive time and day notification in late January.
You will need to bring a poster of your work and place it on the poster board number you are assigned.
Each oral session will have two presenters and each presentation is limited to thirty-five (35) minutes, including Q and A. Please provide a brief overview of your project with the major focus on its clinical implications, as opposed to spending a lot of time on methods and data analysis. You may use a PowerPoint Presentation, if so desired, to visually enhance the sharing of data.
AACN provides the following audiovisual equipment for your oral presentation:
Speakers must provide their own laptop computer or arrange with a colleague to use their computer. Ideally, it is best if all presentations for the session be loaded onto one laptop as that expedites the process of changing speakers. However, that is something the presenters will need to work out once on location or via email prior to NTI.
Please be sure to bring with you an electronic form of your presentation. Internet access will not be available during the presentation.
Speaker Headquarters will be available to you for your convenience and to practice your presentation, if needed. It is located at the convention center in room 242.
Hours are as follows:
Send questions to posters@aacn.org
Is it acceptable to have an interactive DVD available for a fee so that interested persons can later purchase? No product information or marketing materials may be at the poster presentation.
Do I need to arrange for someone to introduce my Research Oral Presentation? AACN will be providing persons to introduce the Research Oral presenters.
Can I ship my poster to the convention center ahead of time? There is no staff available to accept personal shipments at the convention center. We suggest that you have it shipped to your hotel and then carry it to the convention center. Hotels are usually good with holding pre-shipped (FedEx or UPS) items as long as you note your name, arrival date and assigned room number on the package. We recommend using FedEx or UPS so that it can be traced - referencing on your package your arrival date, hotel room and complete name.
Will there be a table or surface to place handout materials at the poster board presentations? No, handouts are not permitted.
Can I bring copies of my poster handout? No handouts are permitted. AACN provides copies of the submitted poster abstract and these will be available to attendees.
I am presenting both a Poster and a Research Oral presentation at the NTI, am I eligible for $150 registration discount? No, presenters who have multiple abstracts accepted will be eligible for only one (1) reduction in NTI registration.
If a colleague is also presenting a poster, can we request that they be presented together? The size of the meeting and the number of presentations does not allow us to accommodate special requests for poster presentation.
Why is my email address listed at the bottom of the abstract? Your e-mail address is provided so that interested colleagues may contact you after the conference with any questions regarding your abstract. If you do not wish to have your e-mail address published, you may choose to decline that option on your disclosure statement.
