Q. Which Internet browsers can be used to access the AACN website and my Chapter Officer Home Page?
A. The AACN website supports Internet Explorer and Firefox Internet browsers. (Please note that Google Chrome and Safari cannot be used.)
Q. Which chapter officers have the ability to log onto the Chapter Officer Home Page?
A. All chapter board position titles have full access to the Chapter Officer Homepage and the officers-only areas of the website, which includes all chapter resources and the chapter membership database. The only positions that does not have complete access is the webmaster and nurse planner. When the webmaster logs on, he/she can only access the Chapter Website Maintenance page.
Q. Our Webmaster is also our Membership Chair, but he/she does not have access to the chapter database. Please help.
A. Edit that person’s chapter membership record, designating him/her as membership chair under the Chapter Position Information section. Then, under the Committee Membership area, add webmaster. Doing this will allow the person complete access to the officers-only areas; he/she will be able to update your chapter’s membership and modify your chapter’s website.
Q. We have several co-chairs on our chapter leadership team, but the chapter database only allows us to designate one person for each position. How can we identify the co-chairs so that they also have access to our chapter database and the other officers-only areas of the website?
A. Edit each co-chairs’ chapter membership records and designate them as chair in the Chapter Position Information section. Then, under the Committee Membership area, add the committee name of which they are co-chair, such as “program co-chair,” etc. This will allow each of them to access to the officers-only areas.
Q. I can only view the first page of my online chapter database. What’s wrong?
A. Internet Explorer is the browser that should be used to view the chapter database. If you are using Google Chrome or Safari, those are not supported by AACN’s computer system. If you are using Internet Explorer, version 9 or 10, you will need to turn on the compatibility mode feature. If you are using Version 11, you will need to download version 10 and use with compatibility mode.
Q. How do I turn on “compatibility mode” on my computer?
A. The instructions are located in the Resource Library, under the header “Chapter Website” and are called “Internet Explorer Compatibility View and Computer Cache.”
Q. I have turned on “compatibility mode,” but I am still having trouble accessing the site. What do I do?
A. You need to clear your computer’s “cache.” The cache is a specialized form of computer memory that holds copies of recently accessed data, such as webpages and webpage pictures and stores them. If over-full, the cache can interfere with your computer’s performance. The instructions for clearing your cache are located in the Chapter Resource Library, under the header “Chapter Website” and are called “Internet Explorer Compatibility View and Computer Cache”.
