Background: AACN Clinical Scene Investigator (CSI) Academy

CSI Academy Pilot Project Results

The original CSI Academy was jointly funded by the Northwest Health Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through a "Partners Investing in Nursing's Future" grant, and provided nursing excellence and leadership training to 23 staff nurses at seven hospitals in the greater Kansas City area. Over a 16-month period, these nurses led projects that positively affected patient outcomes, as well as the fiscal health of their organizations. Each hospital team not only experienced measurable success with its change project, but CSI Academy participants learned they have the ability to influence their units, improve patient outcomes and increase nursing satisfaction.

Inaugural Nursing Innovation Conference

Participants from the pilot CSI Academy presented their projects and results at the first Nursing Innovation Conference on September 10, 2010. Hosted by the Bi-State Nursing Workforce Innovation Center, the conference took place at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
