Community Education & Public Service: San Antonio Chapter
The San Antonio Chapter of AACN supports the mission and vision of AACN by promoting excellence in critical care nursing and professional pride in nursing.
This goal is accomplished by:
- Promoting quality educational offerings and certification
- Promoting communication, collaboration and professional practices among nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Participating in the community
We collaborated with a large hospital system to present a CCRN course. Nurses took the exam, became certified and joined our local chapter, leading to an overall improvement in patient care. Our support of certification continues through annual courses and review questions at chapter meetings.
We also collaborated with a nursing school to support juvenile diabetes. Current research and continuing education were provided along with a fundraiser with monies donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
We successfully collaborated with Texas Nurses Association, District 8, to facilitate the transition of graduate nurses to practice, and we showcased the chapter at two local conferences.
Our chapter fosters collaboration and communication among members through networking and sharing real-life experiences and best practices across San Antonio.
The key to our success is teamwork, perseverance, communication and collaboration, creating an exciting challenge that encourages us to continue to strive for excellence. We want to thank our AACN leaders for their support of our local chapter.
