Eligibility Requirements and Submission for AACN Grants

Eligibility  

All AACN members are eligible to apply for grants. Principal investigators for each application must be nurses holding current AACN membership at the time of application and must remain AACN members throughout the life of the grant funding.

Applicants for the AACN-Sigma Theta Tau Critical Care Grant must hold membership in either AACN or Sigma Theta Tau, International.

The following are ineligible to receive grant funding:

  • Principal investigators who have received funding from AACN may not receive additional funding during the lifetime of their original award (defined as enrollment of the first subject to completion of data analyses and preparation of abstract for presentation or publication of study findings)
  • Members of the AACN Research Grant Review Pane during their term of review
  • Members of the AACN Board of Directors or AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors also may not submit grant applications or serve as consultants on a grants during their term of office

All applications are due at the end of the business day (Pacific time) on November 1.

Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed, nor will they be held for consideration for the next funding cycle.

Format 

Applications will be treated as privileged communication with access restricted to members of the AACN Research Grant Review Panel, board of directors and appropriate national office staff. They must be created in the following format:

  • Typed, using Arial or Times New Roman with 12-point font.
  • Double-spaced on 8-1/2” x 11” letter-size paper with 1” margins.
  • First initial and last name of applicant with consecutive page number must be placed in a header that appears in the upper right corner on all pages consecutively, including appendices.
  • All application materials must be submitted online, using the forms specified.


Applications that do not comply with this format will not be accepted.

After submitting, principal investigators will receive an email acknowledging the receipt of the grant application materials. Applicants will be notified regarding the outcome of the review process within 90 days of the application deadline.
