The story
"Something just wasn't right about the patient order.
I shared my concern with the physician, who wasn't
ready to trust my judgment. I thought, 'How do I say
this differently to be heard?' The second time,
I told him that I thought the patient may be headed for
Renal failure. As it turned out, I was right. My actions
changed the way we managed the patient for the next
24, 48, 72 hours. Saving my patient. Finding my
voice. Gaining confidence in my clinical experience.
That was a good day."
