Nancy Bouldin, who teaches bedside nursing practices, and Linda Pare, an RN in the neonatal ICU, both with Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, N.C., are recognized as two of North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses.
Bouldin has written several papers on the treatment of patients in cardiovascular intermediate care units, and Pare is an instructor in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, neonatal resuscitation and initial care for infants.
Vicki Good, administrative director of patient safety, CoxHealth, Springfield, Mo., and AACN’s president-elect, presented the keynote address at the Updates in Critical Care Conference, Springfield, Mo.
Kathy Magdic, assistant professor and coordinator of the acute care nurse practitioner area of concentration in the Department of Acute-Tertiary Care, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, is elected chair of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Content Expert Panel of the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Vickie Rogers, critical care nurse, Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, N.C., is recognized in the Charlotte Observer for maintaining CCRN certification since 1982.
Mary Lou Moore, associate chief nurse for cardiovascular, thoracic and pavilion services, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, and a past recipient of an AACN Circle of Excellence Award, has died.
“There are countless examples of her helping individuals with personal issues or issues at work; she was always there for people. That’s one of the most valuable lessons I learned from her,” a nursing director says on the hospital’s website.
Patricia Morton, professor and associate dean for academic affairs, University of Maryland School of Nursing, Baltimore, is appointed editor of the Journal of Professional Nursing.
Morton is a well-known expert in nursing education, critical care and cardiovascular nursing. She is a past editor of AACN Clinical Issues (now called AACN Advanced Critical Care) and a past member of the AACN Board of Directors and the AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors.
Karen Tymous, clinical supervisor of the Critical Care Unit, Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver, Pa., and a member of AACN since 1980, receives the system’s Cameo of Caring for her exceptional work.
Michele Zucconi, administrative director, Heart and Vascular Care Center, SJ Healthcare Regional Medical Center, Vineland, N.J., receives a Nurse.com Nursing Excellence Award for 2012 in the category of Patient and Staff Management.
