1. Event: National Healthcare Decisions Day Webinar March 19
“The Law, the Talk and the Care” is the title of this webinar scheduled March 19 from 2 to 3 p.m. (ET). The event will focus on strategies lawyers, physicians, social workers, nurses and other professionals can use to help clients/patients and their families discuss advance planning. 2. Research: Alcohol-based Hand Gel Use in Critical Care Units Improves Hand Hygiene (Abstract)
The introduction of alcohol-based gel produced a significant and sustained improvement in the rate of hand hygiene adherence in critical care units, according to results of a two-year, prospective, controlled, crossover trial.

3. Call for Comment: Documentation of Care
As part of the Standards Improvement Initiative (SII), the Joint Commission is asking for feedback on proposed revisions to the documentation of care requirements (currently located in the Management of Information Chapter) for the Ambulatory Care, Critical Access Hospital, Home Care, Hospital and Office-Based Surgery programs.

5. News: AACN Joins Nursing Community in Urging Priorities for Nursing Workforce Development Program
AACN has joined 31 other nursing organizations in recommending a list of priorities for inclusion during the reauthorization of Nursing Workforce Development programs authorized under Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act.
