A Community of Exceptional Nurses
Fall is in the air! At least, I wish it were. Here in Southern California, it still seems like the middle of summer — mostly hot and dry, with an occasional muggy day. But the days grow slightly shorter, kids are back in school, football is on every channel (and people are complaining about every blown call), the cold-weather catalogs have arrived and seasonal decorations abound in the stores.
It’s the time of year to anticipate the holidays ahead and reflect upon the year that’s passing. As I reflect, I think about your contributions and what they mean to our community of exceptional nurses. I pause to thank you for your willful — and joyful — participation in helping to further the AACN mission. Have a great month and enjoy this beautiful season.
Warm regards, Melinda

Urge Colleagues to Seek Out AACN Chapter Events Fall is a busy time of year for AACN chapters, when many sponsor educational events and symposia. It’s also the perfect opportunity for AACN members to seek out chapter events in their area to take advantage of them. This would be a good time to encourage your colleagues and co-workers to participate in chapter events. Chapter events provide a number of benefits and advantages:
Direct AACN members to the Chapters area of the AACN website (www.aacn.org/chapters) to find resources such as the Chapter Events Calendar and the Find a Chapter section. Capitalizing on this year’s theme, this would also be a good time to urge AACN members to Dare to join their local chapter and play a more active role in supporting our AACN community.
Submit nominations for 2013 AACN Chapter Awards Is the chapter in your area doing great work to advance AACN’s mission and critical care nursing in your area?
