BOARD LIAISON JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities
  1. Assures global AACN perspective is present.
    • Ensures objectives reflect AACN's mission, vision, and values.
    • Provides information regarding AACN initiatives and Board activities.
    • Collaborates with chairperson and staff liaison on group outcomes, agenda items, etc.
  2. Provides for purposeful leadership development of group members.
    • Identifies and nurtures potential AACN leaders.
    • Facilitates conflict resolution among group members.
  3. Assures the group's work is effectively represented at Board meetings.
    • Facilitates effective communication between board and group.
  4. Communicates the strategic plan of the Association to the group.
  5. Ensures effective transition of information about the group from one Board to the next, including liaisons.
  6. Foster a collaborative working environment between the Staff Liaison, Board Liaison and Chair.
    • Collaborate on development of charges for the group and forward recommended charges to the Board
    • Develop all conference call and meeting agendas.
    • Monitor progress of volunteer groups towards achieving the approved charges.
    • Identify potential chairs for coming year, communicate with them accordingly and forward recommendation to President-Elect.
    • Conduct the application review and if needed the interview process for group members for the coming year and forward recommendations to the President-Elect.
    • Jointly conducts annual evaluation of group members with the Chairperson and Staff Liaison.
    • Jointly conducts annual evaluation of Chair along with Staff Liaison.
    • Submits leadership references for any current and/or past committee members applying for leadership positions.
Selection
  1. Board Liaisons are for a one-year term and are appointed by the President-Elect.
  2. Appointments are renewable at the discretion of the President-Elect.
