Workload and Timeline

All panel work will be accomplished electronically online via AACN's Volunteer Discussion Database. Group correspondence will be sent via email.

Based on the number of abstract submissions, each panel member will be asked to review and score between 40-60 abstracts. AACN staff will ensure to provide a diversity of expertise and perspective to each group. The panel will be orientated before the review process. Optional orientation conference calls will be made available.

  • Abstracts will be available for review beginning November 2, 2009.
  • Final scores & recommendations are to be completed by end of business day December 1, 2009 (PST).
Appointment Notifications

Final volunteer selection announcements will be made mid-September.

Volunteer Qualifications

Volunteers should be knowledgeable in the area of specialty addressed by a particular volunteer group; demonstrate currency in the acute and critical care nursing practice as well as a keen awareness for emerging trends; demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, particularly group process skills; demonstrate skill in critical thinking and analysis and be objective in evaluating information as well as other ideas.

Technical Capabilities

Individuals on this panel must have access to e-mail on a regular basis, have a valid e-mail address and be able to navigate an e-mail program easily. Must have access to the Internet on a regular basis and be able to work online using Microsoft WORD and EXCEL PC-based files.
