AACN Chapter Speaker Request Form

Note, these individuals are not available for speaking engagements during NTI, and have very limited availability during the months of the Board Meetings. Please refer to the dates listed below:

Honoraria:
Effective July 1, 2015, AACN chapters are no longer required to pay honoraria to any AACN or AACN Certification Corporation board members for speaking at chapter events. This decision was made to honor the significant contributions that chapters make to furthering AACN’s mission and vision. The AACN leadership would prefer for this money stay in your local communities to further your great work, help with the costs of putting on these programs, or allow chapters to offer scholarships to your event or NTI.
 

Expenses:
AACN chapters will still be responsible for all travel expenses for the speaker (hotel, ground transportation and meals).
 

For the AACN President, President-elect and Immediate Past President:

  • Airline reservations will be made by the National office and the chapter will be billed for the cost of the airline ticket.
  • If the speaker is driving, the reimbursement for mileage is the U.S. Government’s mileage reimbursement rate in effect at the time.
  • Hotel reservations are to be made and pre-paid by the chapter.
  • In addition to the airfare, the chapter will be billed for other travel expenses following the event.
     

For all other AACN and AACN Certification Corporation Board Members:

  • The chapter is responsible for negotiating with the board member their travel expenses, including who will make those reservations, and the spending limits for each item. If the speaker makes their own arrangements, negotiate when the speaker will be reimbursed for their travel expenses:
    • Airfare or Driving – please note that AACN reimbursement for mileage is the U.S. Government’s mileage reimbursement rate in effect at the time.
    • Hotel – the speaker’s sleeping room.
    • Ground transportation – for when the speaker flies to the event, this is the ground transportation from the airport to the hotel, to the event, etc.
    • Meals – the daily meal allowance or whether meals will be provided. 


Timelines:
For the AACN President, President-elect and Immediate Past President:

  • All speaking requests must be submitted a minimum of 45 days in advance, however, it is recommended that you submit your request as far in advance as possible, since these individual's schedules fill up quickly.
  • If the President, President-elect or Immediate Past President are not available, AACN will assist you in finding another board member or past leader to speak at your event. In this situation, AACN will assist with the travel logistics and bill the chapter, as noted above.
  • All payments are due 30 days from invoice date.
     

For all other AACN and AACN Certification Corporation Board Members:

  • It is strongly recommended that you contact potential speakers as far in advance as possible, since their schedules fill up quickly.


CNE:
For the AACN President, President-elect and Immediate Past President:

  • Upon confirmation of the speaker’s availability, Melissa Doane (Melissa.doane@aacn.org) should be contacted to provide you with the necessary materials for CNE application.
     

For all other AACN and AACN Certification Corporation Board Members:

  • The chapter is responsible for working directly with the board member to obtain any required materials for CNE application.
