Kimberly Curtin, DNP, RN, APRN, ACNS-BC, CCRN, CEN, CNL, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018. She served a one-year term as secretary from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017. She also serves a concurrent one-year term as a director on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.

Curtin is clinical administrative director of Thoracic and Orthopaedic Services at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has led and participated in many unit and department committees, including the DAISY Award Committee, Nursing Quality Committee, End-of-Life Committee and Clinical Effectiveness. She enjoys mentoring staff nurses in the development of evidence-based practices.

A member of AACN since 1993, Curtin has been an AACN ambassador since 2014 and served on the Nominating Committee in 2013-2014. A chapter advisor for Region 17 from 2009 to 2012, she was president of the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter in 2008-2009. On the national level, she has presented chapter leadership topics at the National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition and participated in several volunteer activities.

Curtin is also an active member of Texas Nurses Association District 9 and was elected as a delegate for 2017 and 2018. Additional memberships include the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the American Association of Nurse Executives/Houston Organization of Nurse Executives. In March 2017, she received the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Certified Nurse Award, Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Curtin completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, in August 2015.
