Lisa Riggs, MSN, APRN-BC, CCRN-K, serves a one-year term as president-elect of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018. She served a three-year term as a director on the AACN board from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016. She also served a concurrent one-year term on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016. She was secretary on the AACN board from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.
Riggs is system director regulatory readiness at Saint Luke's Health System, Kansas City, Missouri. She was most recently a CV clinical nurse specialist at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. Riggs also served as director of quality and patient safety at Saint Luke's from 2013 to 2015, program director of CV quality from 2008 to 2013, clinical director of patient care services from 2008 to 2010 and a clinical nurse and clinical nurse specialist from 1997 to 2008.
She has a long relationship with AACN and has been actively involved in the Greater Kansas City Chapter since 1990, serving twice as president/president-elect and as chapter secretary. An AACN ambassador from 2002 to 2012, Riggs served twice as chair of AACN's Evidence-Based Practice Resource Work Group and on the AACN Nominating Committee in 2008-2009. She presented at AACN's National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition.
Riggs is also a member of the American College of Cardiology. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
