Lori A. Cox, MSN, RN, ACNP-BC, ACNPC, CCRN, FCCM, serves a three-year term as a director on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2020.

Cox is director of the Advanced Practice Critical Care Fellowship Program at Penn State Health. She was previously a nurse practitioner in the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and an instructor at Penn State University College of Nursing, Hershey, Pennsylvania. She served on the hospital’s Advanced Practice Council (APC) and co-chaired the APC Committee on Professional Development.

Cox is a member of AACN’s Susquehanna Valley Chapter, Middletown, Pennsylvania, and a founding member of the Greater Johnstown Chapter. She is past president and past certification chair of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter, Altoona, and served as the Region 8 chapter advisor.

On AACN’s national level, she was a Beacon Award reviewer and a member of numerous certification exam development committees, as well as the Advanced Practice Institute (API) Program Planning Committee for the National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition (NTI). She is a frequent presenter on local, state and national levels, including NTI and API.

Her other affiliations include the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), where she is a member of the Adult MCCKAP Exam Development Committee. She also served on the education committee for SCCM’s Pennsylvania chapter. Cox is a member of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the Neurocritical Care Society. In 2013, she was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Critical Care Medicine.

Cox earned a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh in 1998 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1996.
