Nikki Dotson-Lorello, RN, BSN, CCRN, CPTC, serves a three-year term on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2020.
She is an organ recovery coordinator at LifeShare Of The Carolinas, Carolinas Healthcare System, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She develops and maintains orientation and training for new organ recovery coordinators and first responders.
An AACN ambassador since 2007, she has been a reviewer for the Circle of Excellence awards, chapter awards and poster abstracts. She was a Region 9 chapter advisor and served on the Nominating Committee. She has been a member of AACN's Piedmont Carolinas Chapter, also serving as president and board member.
Dotson-Lorello has been a manuscript reviewer for Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing. In 2015, she founded Lorello Legal Nurse Consulting and became a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. In 2016, she partnered with The DAISY Foundation to establish the first Organ Procurement Program to recognize organ donor nurses at the bedside. Additional affiliations include working with NATCO: The Organization for Transplant Professionals. She has also worked with Tri It For Life, in Charlotte, North Carolina, which helps women focus on themselves and train for a triathlon.
Dotson-Lorello earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina in 2002. She became a certified procurement transplant coordinator in 2011.
