Wendi Froedge, MSN, RN-BC, CCRN-K, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018.

Froedge is director of nursing strategic initiatives at Harris Health System's Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. She is involved in the hospital's Journey to Magnet Excellence as well as numerous other committee and task force activities aimed at strengthening the quality of nursing practice at Harris Health. She previously worked at Texas Medical Center in Houston.

An AACN member since 2005, Froedge served on the NTI Poster Abstract Review Panel and the Chapter Advisory Team, Region 17. She was secretary of AACN's North Harris/Montgomery County Chapter, and served as president, president-elect and as a board member.

Her extensive awards include the Houston Chronicle Salute to Nurses Award; Gold Medal recipient of the Good Samaritan Award; finalist for the GEM Nursing Excellence Award; Outstanding Preceptor Award; Methodist Hospital System and the Khurana Foundation Endowed Fellowship for improvement in stroke education.

Froedge disseminated research findings from the Sedation and Falls in the Critical Care Environment Study. She has had articles published in Nursing2015 Critical Care and American Nurse Today.

She earned a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Walden University, Baltimore, and an associate degree at Excelsior College in Albany, New York.
