Activity Summary

Since its early development, the Bedside Shivering Assessment Scale (BSAS) has had only initial psychometric testing. Before this instrument is incorporated into routine practice, its interrater reliability should be explored in a diverse group of practitioners.


  • Identify the bedside assessment that can be used in scoring a patient’s shivering.
  • Describe the components of the assessment tool in evaluating the patient’s shivering.
  • Discuss the benefits and limitations of the tool and research study used for assessing the patient’s shivering.
