Jodi Berndt, PhD, RN, CCRN-K, PCCN-K, CNE, CNEcl, CHSE, serves a second three-year term as a director on the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026. She completed her first three-year term on June 30, 2023. She served a second one-year term as secretary/treasurer from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023, after completing her first one-year term on June 30, 2022.

Jodi Berndt is an associate professor of nursing at College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University in St. Joseph, Minnesota. She has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in traditional and online nursing programs since 2009. In addition to teaching, she is actively engaged in clinical practice. Her clinical expertise includes over 25 years of experience in medical/oncology, progressive care and critical care nursing at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

An AACN member since 2000, she served on the Critical Care Certification Exam Development Committee (2019), Progressive Care Certification Exam Item Writing Committee (2018, 2012), Progressive Care Practice Analysis Task Force (2017), Critical Care Certification Exam Virtual Item Writing Committee (2016), and Progressive Care Certification Virtual Exam Development Committee (2016, 2015, 2014).

Berndt is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, National League for Nursing and Sigma’s Kappa Phi At-Large Chapter.

Her scholarly work includes presentations and publications on national, regional and local levels. As a result of her scholarly work and implementation of innovative pedagogies to enhance nursing education, she received Sigma’s Kappa Phi Chapter’s Star of Excellence Award, Minnesota Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Emerging Nurse Educator Award, and the Tom Creed Award for Effective Electronic Pedagogy.

Berndt received a Doctorate in Philosophy of Education (specialization in nursing education) at Capella University, Minneapolis; a post-master’s certificate in nursing informatics at Chamberlain University, Chicago; a Master of Science in nursing education from Walden University, Minneapolis; and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota.

Berndt enjoys classical music and has played the violin for over 35 years. She has participated in several school and community symphony orchestras and has performed at the Kennedy Center, Orchestra Hall in Minnesota and Carnegie Hall. She also teaches private violin lessons to youth in her community.
