Project Goals/Objectives

  1. To increase mobility in ventilated medical ICU patients
  2. To decrease patient ventilator days
  3. To increase patient and family satisfaction
  4. To change the culture of mobilizing patients in the ICU

Project Outcomes

  1. Decreased average number of ventilator days 0.44 day
  2. Mobilized 47 percent of intubated and non-intubated patients
  3. Surveys showed that bedside nurses felt more comfortable mobilizing ICU patients after Increase bedside nurse comfort with mobilizing ICU patients
  4. These outcomes resulted in a projected annual fiscal impact of $342,876.
