Project Goals/Objectives

  1. To educate staff on fall protocols
  2. To educate patients and families on fall prevention
  3. To decrease patient falls on the PCU by 50 percent
  4. To increase the use of bed/chair alarms on high fall-risk patients to 100 percent

Project Outcomes

  1. Decreased patient falls decreased by 70 percent over two years
  2. Increased use of bed and chair alarms by high fall-risk patients 77 percent
  3. These outcomes resulted in a savings of $246,766 over two years, with an estimated annual fiscal impact of $123,383.
