Project Goals/Objectives

  1. To increase functional recovery
  2. To increase early extubation and decrease length of stay (LOS)
  3. To initiate culture change among nurses

Project Outcomes

  1. Initiated a critical care mobility protocol
  2. Reduced average overall hospital LOS for patients admitted to ICU 4.31 days
  3. Increased nurses perceived support by physical therapy from 23 to 96 percent
  4. Increased nurses belief in the possibility of mobilizing patients in the ICU as it exists today from 46 to 79 percent
  5. These outcomes resulted in cost savings of $310,800, with a projected annual fiscal impact of $1,162,200.
