Project Goals/Objectives
- To prevent and reduce the incidence of delirium in the ICU and Intermediate Care Unit
- To educate staff about and begin using the Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU (CAM-ICU) delirium assessment tool
- To educate staff on and begin using the ABCDE bundle
Project Outcomes
- Reduced mean ventilator days 0.3 day overall
- Reduced mean ventilator days 1.1 days when excluding independently rapid or prolonged extubations
- These outcomes resulted in a projected annual fiscal impact of $718,300.
