Project Goals/Objectives

Develop and implement standardized interprofessional rounds in the Surgical ICU (SICU) to:

  1. Improve communication within the healthcare team
  2. Develop and refine standardized rounding tool
  3. Create culture of 100 percent participation of SICU nursing and SICU/trauma providers in daily rounds
  4. Decrease length of stay

Project Outcomes

  1. Increased collaboration and recognition of team members including providers and nursing staff
  2. Improved team members’ perception of unit flow and culture
  3. Increased personal leadership skills
  4. Gained recognition as an example of professionalism for other nurses in the unit and UCSD organization
