Session Summary

This interactive session highlights imaging modalities of the chest utilizing case-based scenarios with chest x-rays, chest computed tomography and lung point-of-care ultrasound images. Participants are challenged to use diagnostic reasoning skills to decide what type of imaging study would best help establish a diagnosis, and then interpret those images as they relate to pathophysiologic conditions of the chest.

Objectives

  • Differentiate the indications for chest x-ray, chest CT and lung ultrasound in the evaluation of respiratory conditions.
  • Explain diagnostic reasoning to select the most appropriate chest imaging modality for developing a targeted differential diagnosis.
  • Interpret chest x-ray, CT chest and lung POCUS findings in relation to underlying pathophysiologic processes affecting pulmonary function.
