Session Summary

This session reviews pharmacologic strategies for anticoagulation reversal in ICU patients. Through evidence-based guidelines and case discussions, APRNs examine reversal agents for warfarin, DOACs and heparins, highlighting leadership in decision-making, patient safety and interdisciplinary care. Focus is placed on urgent bleeding management, procedural readiness and the critical role of APRNs overseeing medication safety and fostering team collaboration. Pharmacology content = 75%

  • Explain indications for warfarin, DOACs and heparins emphasizing APRN expertise in therapy selection and monitoring.
  • Apply evidence-based guidelines for bleeding and urgent procedures, highlighting APRN leadership in readiness and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate the APRN's role in coordinating reversal therapy, ensuring monitoring, medication safety and team collaboration.
