Session Summary

Technologies for metabolic monitoring are recommended to support decision-making in critical care. Accurate and reliable metabolic monitoring needn’t be difficult to adopt, clinically, due to insufficient evidence and scalable technologies anymore. Our research team has several peer-reviewed articles on original research done at our clinical site, demonstrating the value of metabolic monitoring in sepsis identification, readiness to wean and respiratory failure prevention. Pharmacology content = 50%

  • List metabolic monitoring technologies currently available.
  • Identify barriers and facilitators to use of metabolic monitoring in the ICU and PCU.
  • Construct at least one application of metabolic monitoring that could benefit your practice.
