Pain assessment and treatment are complex in the PICU due to a wide range of ages and developmental levels, further complicated by intubation. The evolution of ICU liberation has highlighted proper pain assessment and choice of analgesia and sedation to improve patient care. This session highlights recent evidence for pain and sedation management in pediatric critical care, and ways to implement them into practice to improve patient outcomes and decrease potential side effects.
