Session Summary

Communication errors across disciplines and generations are a leading cause of safety events and threaten teamwork and retention. This session demonstrates a practical low-cost approach to intentionally teach communication skills and emotional intelligence using scripted videos and guided huddles. Attendees gain actionable tools to replicate this approach, building psychological safety, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration and integrating soft skills training to reduce risk and improve team culture.

Objectives

  • Identify common interdisciplinary communication breakdowns and explain how modeling fosters behavioral improvement.
  • Describe strategies for respectful communication across generations by recognizing diverse values, tone preferences and feedback styles.
  • Apply a scalable framework that uses video modeling and guided huddles to teach communication skills and improve team engagement.
