Session Summary

Maybe you suspect your unit is bogged down with outdated practices—or are trying to change them, without success. If so, join this session to explore the concept of de-implementation—the intentional process of eliminating low-value or ineffective clinical practices. Learners gain insight into how factors related to people, context, innovation and process can support or hinder your efforts. Learn an evidence-based approach to build your knowledge and confidence in de-implementation and discover how cutting this clutter frees time to provide high-value care that leads to better patient outcomes.

Objectives

  • Apply knowledge of the types of de-implementation to specific examples of low-value practices in need of change in critical care settings.
  • Describe examples of people, context, innovation and process determinants that may facilitate or hinder de-implementation efforts.
  • Discuss an evidence-based cyclical process infused with implementation science strategies as a framework for de-implementation initiatives.
