Session Summary

Appropriate staffing is one of the AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments. It is very important for staff retention and positive patient outcomes that staffing is effective, and that nurses and nurse leaders have the tools to implement appropriate staffing. This session offers tangible resources participants can take back to their units to address their staffing challenges.

  • Summarize the AACN staffing standards and guiding principles.
  • Identify how appropriate staffing can increase safety, retention and staff well-being.
