Session Summary

Literature reviews confirm that nursing units across the country are struggling with high turnover, poor staff satisfaction and burnout, especially postpandemic. Creating a committee of nurses who understand the needs and concerns of their peers can positively impact the work environment. The 3R committee, which stands for retention, recruitment and recognition, can give nurses a voice in improving their work environment. A step-by-step guideline on how to create and manage a committee in your home unit is discussed in this presentation.

Objectives

  • Describe the purpose of creating a 3R committee on one's unit.
  • Identify how creating a 3R committee can demonstrate effective application of the Healthy Work Environment Standards.
  • Apply the concept of a 3R committee in order to analyze and improve the work environment in your home unit.
